Hi there, thanks for sharing this idea. I had thought about it back when I first built the app, but I feel like there's some disagreement among the fitness community over how useful the sets*reps*weight calculation actually is for tracking progress. That being said, it would be a fairly simple calculation, and maybe one that could be turned on as an option in settings. Let's see how the LiftRep community votes and if it's something that might be of interest for others? Note that I'm also just struggling to find spare time to add new features to the app, but if there's a new resurgence of interest maybe I'll be able to find some spare cycles in the future...

Hi there, thanks for the new suggestion! One question for you- do you have a preferred 1RM calculation formula that you like to use?

I'll have to think about this more, as the built in sync is designed to always update with the latest exercises from the database on the server...

However, when it comes to your own exercises added, you can edit/delete them to fix spelling corrections and mistakes. In the tab bar, choose More, then Exercises, then find your exercise. There will be an Edit button in the top right corner for that...

So, you'd like to delete ALL the existing exercises, and start with a blank slate to create your own?

I'm thinking maybe I could add some tabs and have different views- All Exercises, Your Exercises. That way, you could have a view filtered just to the exercises you've created (which would start out empty), but not lose access to the existing exercise database in case you'd like to reference them in the future.

Hi K, thanks for the feedback! If you could also leave a review for LiftRep in the App Store, it would be very much appreciated- it's the biggest help in making LiftRep more visible to new users searching the store.

Regarding cardio- are you seeing it as its own section in the app, or something that gets tracked in the same Training Logs list as with your strength training workouts? Do you usually do cardio as part of your routines, such that you would want to be able to "add" cardio to a workout routine just like adding another exercise?

It's definitely food for thought- I figured that with such a vast collection of cardio tracking apps in the store (i.e. all the RunKeepers, Nike+, Strava, running/cycling/etc app), it would be hard to improve upon the formula.

I'd also need to do a lot more reading up about different types of cardio workouts/equipment, etc. To start, can you give me a concrete example of some of your typical cardio sessions that you perform, and what you'd want to record?

    Sincerely,
    Francis

PS. Also noted- changing colors in the app...

You mean a visual indicator of what plates to put on the bar for a given weight? Assuming you include the bar weight in your records, that would mean also specifying the type/weight of bar you're using so that it can be properly accounted for in the total, right?

    Hi Jake,

One way you can do this right now is to open the training log for the freeform workout you wish to repeat, then press Edit in the upper right corner, then press "Start new Training Log". I think I'm going to change that last label to "Repeat this workout", because that's what it will do- it will take exactly the sets you performed, and start a new training log. Does that do what you are suggesting?

If you sign up for a free LiftRep account, you can Synchronize your training logs with LiftRep.com to back up your data!

Charts are definitely something I hope to work on in the future...

So, would you say this is something you'd program once in your Routine/Workout?

Then, as you create new Training Logs, you'd plug in your 1RM, then it would auto-fill the weight amounts for you, right?

Thanks for all the comments... I think I have a better idea of how you guys are trying to use the app. It's really interesting to see the different ways people track their workouts!

LiftRep was initially designed around an "input as you work out" model, rather than an "input in advance" model. Although the pre-filled sets/reps feature in the last release does make things a bit easier, I'm going to sit back and think about this a bit more rather than rush into trying to shoe-horn some changes into the design right away...

Can you describe step by step how I can create the same situation in the app? For example- "Start logging a new Freeform Workout, press Add Exercise, then select exercise xyz, etc".

Also, can you take a screenshot of your training log or routine that shows this condition? To take a screenshot, press and hold the home button then the power button at the same time- the screen should flash and you should hear the camera sound (if your phone is not on vibrate mode). The screenshot will then be in your photo roll, which you can then email to me: support@liftrep.com

I would like to add images, but the difficulty is getting high quality images that are copyright/royalty-free without doing your own photoshoot:). I'll keep searching, but all I've found so far are the "EverKinetic" exercise illustrations, which I've found to be not so comprehensive or useful...
